Our comfort shoes are made from high-quality materials. To ensure long-lasting enjoyment of your shoes, they require the right care. GANTER recommends Collonil. On our shoe detail pages, you will even find the appropriate care recommendation for each model.
Tips for general shoe care
- Before wearing your shoes for the first time, evenly and thinly apply an appropriate care product.
- Restore shoes to like-new condition by treating scratches with liquid shoe cream, then polishing the shoes and applying solid shoe cream.
- Quickly remove minor stains with a soft eraser.
- Protect your shoes from moisture by using environmentally friendly, propellant-free waterproofing spray.
- Avoid drying wet shoes on the heater; instead, stuff them with absorbent paper and apply saddle soap.
- Always allow care products to dry before polishing.
- Revive dried-out shoe cream by adding a few drops of milk or turpentine.
- After each wear, lightly rub suede with a sponge or brush. Remove stains with sandpaper.
- Rubbing with petroleum removes snow stains.
- After wearing, ideally stretch shoes while still warm to prolong their lifespan.
- Hang high boots to prevent shafts from bending.
Special care recommendations for our Merino shoes
Merino wool has antibacterial properties and a strong self-cleaning effect, making it particularly easy to care for. Regular airing and brushing with a natural hairbrush are usually sufficient. Waterproofing is not usually necessary due to its natural water repellency. However, for material combinations with leather, we recommend waterproofing the shoes. For stubborn stains, you can find specialized cleaners at shoe specialty stores.
Tips for Stubborn Stains
- Act quickly to prevent permanent stains. Blot liquids with a white kitchen paper or absorbent cloth.
- Remove solid particles with a spoon, always working from the outside inwards to prevent the stain from spreading.
